In the story The Siege of Macindaw (330 pages) Will has to take over a castle that a traitor took over.  He pays a bunch of vikings to help him try to take it over again.  Meanwhile a lady from the kingdom is being held ransom with the traitor.  Nobody came in time so the traitor (who likes her) gave her a choice, mary him, die, or go into slavery.  Before she made her decision Will came in with his vikings and saved the day.
